English Olympiad : For top achievers, the English Olympiad offers wonderful prizes - which some of our previous years' entrants have achieved: the literary tour of England, first year tuition fees at Rhodes University and Gold Certificates for being among the Top 100 of more than 4000 entrants.35 learners entered the olympiad in 2008. 1 learner was awarded a silver certificate, 10 learners were awarded bronze certificates and 22 learners received merit certificates.
Afrikaans Olympiad : We had a phenomenal response from learners wishing to write the ATKV (Afrikaans Taal en Kultuur Vereniging) Olympiad in 2008. 15 Grade 8 and 9 learners wrote the junior olympiad and 75 Grade 10, 11 and 12 girls wrote the Senior Olympiad. All 90 learners performed admirably, and two learners, Laura Millhouse and Aneesah Shaikjee passed with distinction. Laura Millhouse was placed in the Top 100 nationally. Jeppe Girls achieved a 100% pass rate.
National Science and Life Science Olympiad : Girls enter these competitions voluntarily, they are encouraged to participate for their own development. Each year learners do exceptionaly well.
Consumer Studies Olympiad: In 2009, 11 Grade 12 learners wrote the Consumer Studies Olympaid. Adriana de Sousa Quiterio and Sabrina Tavares were placed in the Top Ten out of 5 014 entrants.
Tour de Maths: The school also participates in Tour de Maths with private schools. Tour de Maths is a mathematical competition in which 16 schools across Johannesburg and Pretoria take part. A group of Grade 9 to Grade 11 learners are chosen to participate each year.
MinQuiz : MinQuiz is regarded as one of South Africa's premier national science competitions for Grade 12 learners and has been running since 1988.It is a competition organised by Mintek, a national science council specialising in mineral and metallurgical technology. The aims of Minquiz are to encourage interest in careers in Science, Engineering and Technology and to promote awareness of the importance of minerals and metallurgy to South Africa.
Each year three matric students are invited to Mintek as part of their annual MinQuiz. These students, along with students from schools around Gauteng, experience a day full of activities. The day starts off with orientation and science puzzles, then the MinQuiz (a series of science questions), presentations by the various faculties at MinTek, a guided tour and other interesting presentations.
