The Jeppe Music Centre offers music education to Jeppe girls who do not necessarily want to take music as a school subject. Instrumental tuition and theory is also offered to pupils of all ages – from young learners of other schools to adults wishing to take music.
The music centre operates in the afternoons and offers individual tuition in the following
• Piano
• Keyboard
• Guitar
• Voice (after an audition)
• Recorder
• Flute
• Clarinet
• Saxophone
• Violin
• Trumpet
Group tuition is also offered in Guitar, Recorder and Violin.
Instruments are available for hire from the school as well as from Lovemore Music (Brixton) and the Music Instrument Library at reasonable monthly rates. Prices are available on request.
Music Theory is also offered for Elementary, Intermediate and Advanced students.
Many of the learners who attend the music centre also enter external examinations (ABRSM, Trinity and UNISA) and eisteddfods
The fee structure for the music centre is as follows:
Individual Tuition
30 minutes a week R750 per term (Beginners & Elementary: Grades 1-3)
45 minutes a week R1150 per term (Intermediate: Grades 4-5)
60 minutes a week R1500 per term (Advanced: Grades 7 upwards)
Group Tuition
Guitar – 45 minutes a week R925 per student per term
Violin & Recorder – on request
Theory
45 minutes per week R350 per term (Elementary, Intermediate & Advanced)
Students wishing to take music theory only will be charged R550 per term for a 45 minute lesson.
