Our swimmers also participate at provincial level.
The school swimming pool was closed for renovation towards the end of 2008. The original pool, built in 1929, was thirty three and a third yards long. The pool has now been resurfaced and the length adjusted to 25 metres. It was reopened on 20 March 2009 by Ms Slabber for the inter-house gala.
Inter-House Gala 2011
After a rather wet January, we woke up to a clear, sunny day on Friday 4th February. The day of the interhouse gala. The excitement had built to fever pitch as the Matrics assembled their houses for photographs and began their parade into the swimming pool area. Nerine were disguised as Egyptians, Disa were decked out as Leprechauns, Gerbera were the Pink Panthers, Crassula were Japanese, Protea were Smurfs and Harveya were the Dutch yodellers.
After a round of war cries and a couple of Mexican Waves, the swimming began. Competition was fierce and 8 records were broken during the morning. Congratulations to Tarryn Holmes who broke the record for All grades Butterfly and again for the Individual Medley, Eden Standard who broke the record for Senior Backstroke and Tamlyn Harker who broke the record for the Junior Flutterboard race. Harveya broke 2 relay records –the Senior Freestyle Relay and the Senior Medley Relay; Gerbera broke the record for the Senior Breaststroke Relay and Protea broke the record for the Senior Backstroke Relay.
Harveya won the junior section of the gala with 88 points and Nerine narrowly beat Harveya in the senior section with 74.5 points. The overall results were as follows: Harveya won with 162.5 points; Nerine came second with 121 points, Protea third with 111.5 points, followed by Crassula with 89 points, Disa with 88 points and Gerbera with 86 points. Harveya was awarded the Cheerleading cup, followed by Disa and Protea.
Harveya were awarded the Spirit Cup, with Protea and Disa coming in behind them.
Congratulations to the swimmers and thanks to all the organisers, in particular Mrs Costine, who worked so hard to make the event such a success.
Inter-High Gala 2011

Congratulations to Tarryn Holmes who won the U16 100m Freestyle and the U16 50m butterfly races and to Morgan Hughes who took second place in the U15 50m freestyle.
Thank you to Mr Steyn for generously sponsoring the jackets, towels and kit bags.
Inter-High Gala 2010
The Inter-High Gala took place on Thursday 5 March. Congratulations to all of the swimmers who took part and in particular to the Grade 8 swimmers who did exceptionally well. Special mention needs to be made of Tarryn Holmes who won a Gold medal in the U16 butterfly event. Congratulations to Daniella Botha, our swimming captain, who did a magnificent job together with the seniors, in organising the swimmers and keeping the team together and the team spirit alive.
Congratulations to the Grade 8 supporters for their excellent behaviour and team spirit. Well done girls, you did Jeppe proud! Jeppe came 9th out of 10 schools, which wasn’t a bad result, given the trying circumstances under which our girls had to perform. Watch this space next year – Jeppe will be back!

Tarryn Holmes being congratulated for winning her race!(2010)
